About Me
I was born in Saint John, NB and began playing the guitar at age 12. In 2004, I graduated from the music program at Cambrian College in Sudbury, ON where I studied guitar performance with Philip Candelaria. I acquired a Bachelor of Music degree from Mount Allison University in 2009 where I continued my guitar studies with Peter Higham. In addition to studying with Mr. Candelaria and Mr. Higham, I performed in master classes for Martha Masters, Johan Fostier, Louis Trepanier, and Andrew Mah. As a student, I performed many recitals as both a soloist and as part of an ensemble. As a professional, I have played at many weddings, concerts, special events and as a pit musician for several musical theater productions in the Saint John and southern NB region.
I have been teaching private guitar lessons since 2004, including one year as a part-time guitar professor at Cambrian College. In in 2006 I began teaching private guitar lessons in Saint John at a local music store and maintained a full schedule of students for four years. In 2010, I received my Bachelor of Education from St. Thomas University and have been a music teacher in Anglophone South School District since then. In 2018, I earned my Masters of Education (curriculum studies with a focus on music education) from Acadia University. I currently teach elementary general music at Forest Hills School and run both the elementary performing arts group and the middle level musical theater program. I am also taking on new classical guitar students. Please see my lessons page for more information.
